Tan Sijie

Sijie graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences (Honours) from Nanyang Technological University. With an immense interest in Science and nature, in his honours year, he completed two research theses, one on mangrove water snakes, and another on the Bukit Timah Nature Reserve.

Upon graduation, Sijie joined the Raffles Museum of Biodiversity Research, NUS as their Education and Public Relations Officer, where he organized events and tours, and managed the outreach and education aspect of the Museum. Subsequently, Sijie decided to give himself some time off and explore the world just a little bit more. For three years before joining the Raffles Leadership Institute, he free-lanced for Wildlife Reserve Singapore as an Education Facilitator, while travelling and following his passions. Sijie has also been involved in Youth Expedition Project since 2003 and is familiar with both local and overseas service-learning and community work.

Sijie has been a Scout since his secondary school days and to date, has been and still is actively involved in both local and international Scouting movements. His engagement in regional and world conferences, organising events, conducting workshops and programmes, and work with young children and youth has contributed much to his pool of experience.

Much of Sijie’s spare time is spent either out in nature or engaging in Scout activities, as he strongly believes in his own quote of “Live and breathe your passion, for it feeds your mind and soul.”
